What Is Galla Chinensis Extract?

The product is a bioactive botanical constituent from aphid (Schlechtendalia chinensis) galls developed on host plants, mostly from Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces. The extraction procedure is performed using water or ethanol solvents to retain hydrolyzable tannins, gallic acid, and ellagic acid which are important chemicals for strong antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activity.

This natural extract is distinguished from condensed tannins by a central glucose core esterified with galloyl groups. The concentrated solution is spray dried to a stable powder form, which may be used in a wide variety of commercial applications.
