What Is Cistanche Extract?

A parasitic plant from Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia's arid deserts, Cistanche deserticola, produces the chemical. It produces unique bioactive compounds by attaching to host plant roots and collecting nutrients without chlorophyll.

Over 100 active ingredients have been found and phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs) such as echinacoside and acteoside are the major indicators. These chemicals have hormone-regulating, neuroprotective and antioxidative effects.
